2017 Art Exposed, Kamloops B.C. Canada
"Good Tilled Earth" took honorable mention at the Kamloops Art Exposed juried art show on March 3rd. This carving pays homage to anyone who has put in a hard days work. Particularly farmers, who wake at the break of dawn to till, plant, harvest and provide for countless people without little recognition and gratitude. The foreground shows a farmer guiding his draft horse as he tills his fields in the direction of his homestead and windmill. As always, I incorporate wildlife into my work, so nestled in a thicket, lies a whitetail deer who is captivated by the commotion.
The carving is mounted on a beautiful piece of pine beetle wood and measures 32"x24"x14".
